A Tea Ceremony for 78 Guests at The Garden Oriental Osaka

A report from our on-site tea ceremony at The Garden Oriental Osaka

On 10 October 2025, we hosted a Japanese culture experience for 78 international guests of PwC. The venue was the Oriental Park Room at The Garden Oriental Osaka, a hall with large windows looking out onto a green garden.

With 78 guests, the venue mattered. We looked at several options with the organiser and chose a room where everyone could sit together at round tables, surrounded by greenery.

Our hosts in kimono began with a demonstration at the tea kettle, explaining how matcha is prepared and the spirit of hospitality behind it. Then every table picked up their own whisks and bowls, and the guests whisked their own matcha.

Each table had a plate of seasonal wagashi to enjoy with the tea. By the end, the room was full of laughter, and every table was taking group photos with the bowls they had used.
