A report from our on-site matcha service at Hilton Osaka
On the evening of 17 August 2025, we were invited to a banquet held by ICICI Prudential, a company from India, at Hilton Osaka. In one hour, from 18:30, we served freshly whisked matcha to about 100 guests.
Real tea bowls, even for 100 guests
For a large group, paper cups would be the easy choice. But we wanted every guest to hold a proper tea bowl, so we brought a long row of matcha bowls, each a little different in colour and shape.
A team of four
Guests lined up and received their matcha one by one. To keep the line moving, our teacher was joined by three staff members: one whisking matcha, one washing bowls, and one handing out tea and clearing up.
A demonstration in the middle of the party
Our teacher, Harada, whisked matcha at a demonstration table and explained each step. Several guests stepped up to try the whisk themselves.
The date moved a few times before the event, and the organiser later thanked us for adapting so smoothly on the day. They told us the matcha corner was a big hit and livened up the whole evening.
